The UPSTI 2022 Summer Programs

Broadway Bound: July 11th-July 31st
Theatermakers get to choose one of two tracks: Performer or Tech/Design
Join us for the highly anticipated premiere of our immersive 3-week pre-professional summer theater program, Broadway Bound!
In Broadway Bound, theatermakers are immersed in the exciting three week process of putting up a full-scale, full-length musical production. Our process gives theatermakers the unique opportunity to experience what it feels like to work on a professional show, mirroring the rehearsal and production process they would experience if they were cast in a show at a regional theater.
They are led through this dynamic process by a diverse team of professional artists, designers, and technicians from the stages of Broadway, Off-Broadway, and nationally renowned regional theaters. The 3 weeks culminate in multiple public performances of the show on the state-of-the-art stages of the Rozsa Center for the Performing Arts!
Theatermakers choose between one of two tracks for their focus during Broadway Bound: Performing or Tech/Design. For more information on what the differences are between the Performing Track vs. Tech/Design Track, click here!
SCHOLARSHIPS AND PAYMENT PLANS AVAILABLE. Room/Board for sleepaway students offered in partnership with Finlandia University.

Theater Workshop @ UPSTI: August 1st-6th
Not ready to go #fullout yet? No problem!
Theater Workshop @ UPSTI is a great choice for theatermakers (ages 10-17) who are curious about theater, but perhaps not ready to jump into the three week process of putting up a full-length musical production quite yet. This is a more process-centered program, with less emphasis on performance, and more emphasis on exploration and technique.
In Theater Workshop @ UPSTI, emerging young artists take a deep dive into technique and exploration, honing their skills in in acting, singing, dancing, tech, and design. Instead of putting up a full musical production, we switch gears and take a deep dive into educational masterclasses and workshops led by our fabulous team of professionals, as well as faculty from Michigan Tech University’s theater tech/design dept.
This 6 day intensive culminates in a more intimate performance setting with an invited showcase performance for family and friends.
SCHOLARSHIPS AND PAYMENT PLANS AVAILABLE.

Broadway Bound Extension: July 11th-August 7th
BB Extension is simply Broadway Bound and Theater Workshop combined, culminating in a 4 week adventure! Theatermakers get the exciting and rigorous experience of being part of a full musical production for the first 3 weeks, and then hone in on technique and educational classes in the 4th week, with another chance to perform in a slightly different context…this time in an intimate showcase performance. This is a great option for young people who want to build their resume with a show (in Broadway Bound) AND work on audition material and individualized coaching that will help with their technique and equip them to audition for theater or college auditions (Theater Workshop). If your theatermaker wants to go #fullout, this program is for them!
SCHOLARSHIPS AND PAYMENT PLANS AVAILABLE. Room/Board for sleepaway students offered in partnership with Finlandia University.
